Finding the best affiliate marketing niche isn’t all that difficult, but there is a process and procedure to go through. It’s not that the steps to finding a niche are difficult, rather, they need to be done in the correct order. Unfortunately, most new affiliate marketers will decide on an affiliate marketing niche based on what they think will make them the most money. While this is understandable, there are a few steps of the niche finding process that need to be done first.
Affiliate Marketing Is Business
Don’t worry, you don’t have to wear a suit and tie or sit in an office building all day, but there are some business aspects to affiliate marketing. You aren’t just starting a website – you’re starting a business.
When most new affiliate marketers are searching for a great affiliate marketing niche topic, they have the wrong state of mind. Affiliate marketing is not easy and you sure as heck aren’t going to see any sort of revenue in a short period of time. Some people just so happen to fall into the right affiliate marketing niche at the right time and earn some nice revenues very quickly. Of course, other people win the lottery. That doesn’t mean you’re going to win just because you purchased a ticket.
Even those who do succeed very quickly usually aren’t successful long-term. The reason is most new affiliate marketers don’t look at affiliate marketing as a legitimate business. Truth be told, affiliate marketing is a multi-billion dollar per year industry. It’s not only a powerhouse, but most of the money being made through affiliate marketing is through small companies and sole-proprietors. Never has there been such a time when virtually anyone with an internet connection could start a legitimate business with almost no overhead and earn 6 or 7 (or more) figures each year. It’s just insane when you really think about it.
With that said, the money flowing around in the affiliate marketing niche topic world isn’t happening because of some spammy blog comments with affiliate links. Nobody is getting rich with a one page website or a few cheesy YouTube videos. There are no “secret systems” or automated software programs that will do all the work for you. And no, internet marketing “guru’s” aren’t going to tell you their secrets to make millions by next month in their $29.99 e-book or training program.
If you want to give affiliate marketing a try, you must look at this as BUSINESS. That’s what it is. Yes, you can start an affiliate marketing business without quitting your day job. In fact, about 10hrs per week is all it takes… to start. The more you work, the faster you’ll see results. And just like a legitimate business, you won’t see results for a few months. That’s business!
And just like a legit business, you will be providing a valuable service to both everyday people and businesses alike. Affiliate marketing is a form of advertising. So, welcome to the world of advertising in the digital age.

Finding An Affiliate Marketing Niche By Using The Backwards Method
Instead of focusing on choosing the most profitable affiliate marketing niche topic, figure out what topic you’d most enjoy spending time researching and writing about. Affiliate marketing does take some time, especially if you don’t have a whole lot of money upfront to spend on marketing and advertising. Even if you do have money to spend on marketing and advertising, that’s no picnic. It will take lots of time and money before you find an advertising campaign that works.
Because of those reasons and more, it is essential that you choose an affiliate marketing niche you actually enjoy. You will inevitably have some setbacks. If you’re developing a website about the best hemorrhoid cream, you probably won’t make it through the tough times. Sure, the profit potential is huge, but do you really want to spend time writing a website and marketing a product related to….. that?
So, what do you actually enjoy? What are your hobbies, passions, and interests? Maybe you love to play golf and want to teach others how to improve their swing. Or maybe you have a favorite vacation destination that you know all about and want to help others have a successful vacation there, too? Or maybe you’re a real-estate agent and want to have a website teaching people how to properly search for and buy a home? The possibilities are endless. All of the topics I wrote above could be wildly profitable if you do it right (by the way, I teach you how to do it right in this affiliate marketing e-course).
The point is, everyone knows something about something. You have a passion or knowledge about something that other people want to learn about. Even if you can’t think of anything, there must be something you are interested in learning more about. As you learn about it, write about it!
The Affiliate Marketing Niche Balancing Act
Without having any experience affiliate marketing, most people can usually figure out the simple economics of supply and demand. If you try to develop an affiliate website to sell products related to the weight loss industry, it would be pretty tough. There’s just too much competition. So, the trick is to find a niche…
Instead of starting a website about “how to lose weight” you can start a website specific to some sort of a new diet that is gaining popularity. You might not be able to rank highly for generic weight loss terms in search engines, but you can try to steal a corner of the affiliate marketing niche by focusing your site 100% on one specific diet.
On the flip side, you can’t get too narrow, either. If you have a website about how to lose weight by eating nothing but bananas, nobody will ever visit your site. If they do, they won’t stay long. Even if you could lose weight by only eating bananas, nobody wants to do that and nobody is searching for information about “the banana diet”.
But what about developing a website about how to lose weight with a gluten free diet? There are a lot of people who try to avoid gluten and just like everyone else, they sometimes need to lose weight. Now, if you were someone who doesn’t eat gluten and you wanted to lose weight, would you rather visit a generic health site like webMD.com or would you prefer visiting a website made just for those who don’t eat gluten?
So, you can see the fine balance you have to play here. You can’t go too broad, but you can’t get too narrow, either. You’ve got to find that “sweet spot”. So, when you start your first affiliate marketing website, try to develop the site so that you can be flexible and narrow or broaden your affiliate marketing niche if needed. As you gain experience, this will become easier.
