Of course you can make money affiliate marketing! I’m proof of it! I’ve been a full-time affiliate marketer for several years now and my business seems to grow year after year. I began my affiliate marketing business part-time from the cab of my truck as a long-haul truck driver and less than one year later, I was working from home setting my own hours making twice what I made as a trucker. Affiliate Marketing Is Real Business
The reason most people do not succeed or make any money affiliate marketing is because they don’t treat affiliate marketing as a real business, even though it is a multi-billion dollar per year industry. Most newbies put up a small website, make a few YouTube videos, create a social media account, perform some link building techniques (out of date method), then expect the checks to roll in.
Or worse, many new affiliate marketers buy into get rich quick training courses, videos, or e-books. Anyone who tells you they have a “secret system” or a “private software program” that can make you tons of money without doing any real work yourself, run away. Obviously, they actually make their money selling $9 e-books or $50 training programs, not by actually using any crappy “system” or secret software program.

The Affiliate Marketing Barrier To Entry
Anyone these days can create a website. In fact, you don’t even need any programming skills or a single cent to do so. Yet, so few aspiring affiliate marketers ever receive one commission check. Why?! How could this be!?
It’s the affiliate marketing barrier to entry.
In order to succeed as an affiliate marketer, you must treat your venture as a legitimate business. You have to have a plan. What products will you promote? How will you promote them? What value will you bring to others so that people or businesses will be willing to pay you?

Being Able To Make Money Affiliate Marketing Takes Time
(but it’s worth it)
If you have 10’s of thousands of dollars to throw around on advertising expenses, you might be able to see some income pretty quickly. But I’m assuming most of you are just looking for a way to work part time on an online business that will eventually allow you to earn a living from home, and you want to work on it on your own schedule. If this is the case for you, it will take a bit of time. Don’t expect to hit the jackpot next week like many of the online “guru’s” will have you believe.
How long will it take before you start seeing some revenue? I usually tell new affiliate marketers that it will take about 6 to 12 months and at least 100 to 200 pages of high quality content on your website. Maybe it won’t be enough to quit your full-time job at that point, but you’ll be doing pretty well.
In my case, I WAS able to quit my full-time job in the first year. This is entirely possible for you, too. It just depends on how much effort you put into it.

Reinvest Into Your Business
As soon as you begin earning profits from your affiliate website, video blog, e-book, or other sources, you should take a certain percentage to reinvest into your business. You could outsource content creation, spend on advertising to give your site more exposure, purchase legitimate training programs to advance your skills, etc.
Most unsuccessful affiliate marketers take their revenues and spend it on personal things like paying off debts, taking a vacation, etc. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that, but you should think longer term. If you reinvest your income, you can actually grow your income at a much faster rate. That will make it all that much easier to take as many vacations your want or live entirely debt free.
While no reliable stats exist, there are probably 10’s of thousands of people making money affiliate marketing right now. By next year, will you be one of them? Will it be your full-time gig?
